Our Mission

The art of communication is something many of us take for granted. Whether it’s learning your ABC’s, spelling your name, crawling, walking, or simply saying “hello”, we want your voice to be heard. A Bright Start creates a world for children where they feel that they are important in the community.

Our Impact

Our strategies are designed to have the highest impact in your child’s area of need.

5%

Speech pathology

5 percent of U.S. children ages 3-17 have a speech disorder that lasted for a week or longer during the past 12 months.1

0-8

Physical therapy

Early childhood development encompasses physical, socio emotional, cognitive and motor development between 0-8 years of age. The early years are critical, because this is the period in life when the brain develops most rapidly and has a high capacity for change, and the foundation is laid for health and wellbeing throughout life.

4x

occupational therapy

Children who are not reading proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of school before receiving a high school diploma than those who are proficient readers.

Our Programs

As a Pediatric therapy agency, we provide speech, feeding, physical, and occupational therapy to children ages 0-18 years across Miami Dade County, including Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC), daycares, preschool, as well as the home setting.

Populations can range from Developmental Delays, Fine/ Gross Motor skills, Receptive/ Expressive Language Delay, Articulation/ Phonological Disorders, as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Apraxia, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21), etc.

Speech therapy

Our speech-language pathologists are Florida-licensed medical professionals and trained to evaluate, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, as well as socio-communication deficits and disorders. Speech-Language therapy is used to aide children in their abilities to communicate with others in the community.

physical therapy

Our physical therapists are Florida-licensed medical professionals who are trained to increase mobility in the lower extremities of children who lack gross motor skills. Deficits in gross motor skills can range from riding a bike, walking backwards, skipping, or simply walking in a straight line.

occupational therapy

Our Occupational therapists are Florida-licensed medical professionals who are trained to help facilitate deficits in cognition, fine motor coordination, balance, visual perception, and/ or activities of daily living (brushing teeth, learning to tie their shoes, etc.) in children who develop delays in these areas of overall development.

holistic treatment strategies

The culture here at A Bright Start keeps in mind that every child that comes through the door is different and may need a different approach that caters to what their specific area of need is.
